High working reliability
The basic version of the Kern 996 handles documents ranging in length from 3 ½" to 16". Other salient features of the basic equipment include servo drives and an air cushion system for reduced paper friction.

In addition, the Kern 996 comes equipped with a reading bridge, a local operating panel, and a communication interface to all current Kern systems. These features ensure quick connectivity and ease of operation.

The emergency stop device and the safety lids with Interlock are important features of the Kern 996. The base frame, which is equipped with wheels and levelling feet, provides the module with the requisite mobility and stability.

The Kern 996’s cutting unit performs many different functions:

  • Separation of two-track continuous paper down the middle
  • Pinless transport, buffering and merging of the paper tracks before the crosscut
  • Synchronised advance of paper by means of optically sensed marks or pinfeed
  • Crosscut by means of an oscillating knife
  • Variable double cut, software-controlled
  • Controlled transfer of cut documents to the inserting system
  • Residual paper trimmings are carried away where necessary

The module’s broad range of applications means that the Kern 996 combines all the features of the Kern 990 and Kern 995, in particular synchronisation by pinfeed, logo or mark, pinless transport, and the ability to handle a very wide range of document formats.

The built-in universal oscillating knife can perform single, double and programmed cuts without retooling. Changeovers are accomplished by parameterisation alone.

Changes due to technical developments are possible.
